Here are some of the national living-with-HIV coalitions you can plug into for connection, community, lifesaving information and advocacy opportunities. All the websites listed here make it easy for you to reach out to them with a click or two.
The Reunion Project (TRP). This 12-year-old national network hosts regional town halls, plenty of online summits you can join from home, info-rich webinars and peer-led projects that often focus on HIV subcommunities, like straight men or Black women. Also, find TRP on Facebook.
NMAC 50+ Strong and Healthy. With more than 2,400 members, this special program of the longtime national HIV group NMAC, which focuses on people of color, offers numerous opportunities to plug into community if you’re aging with HIV, including webinars, mini grants to support advocacy work in your own community and scholarships and fellowships to attend NMAC’s annual USCHA conference cost-free. United States People Living with HIV Caucus, also known as the HIV Caucus. Founded in 2010, this national network of people living with HIV (PLWHIV) and the organizations that serve them is a lead sponsor of the annual DC summit AIDSWatch, where PLWHIV and their allies not only learn from one another but also visit lawmakers on Capitol Hill to make the case for continued federal funding for HIV programs, such as the Ryan White CARE Act. Also, find the Caucus on Facebook.
Positive Women’s Network–USA. This 4,000-member transgender-inclusive national group for women living with HIV was founded in 2008 and offers everything from in-person summits to online workgroups, webinars and a blog featuring posts by members. The group plays a major role in ensuring that the voices of women living with HIV are centered in all policy and funding matters. And you don’t have to be out with your HIV status to join.
