Drug Indication
Idvynso is approved as a switch option for people with viral suppression who wish to change their regimen. It is not yet approved for those starting HIV treatment for the first time, and it is not yet included in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents. General Info
Idvynso is a single-tablet regimen for HIV. It contains a non-nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (doravirine) and the first nucleotide reverse transcriptase translocation inhibitor (islatrvir). Idvynso was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April 2026. It is indicated for people switching from another antiretroviral regimen with viral suppression if they have no history of virological treatment failure and no known viral mutations associated with resistance to doravirine.
Dosage
Adult Dose:
One tablet once a day. Each tablet contains 100 mg doravirine and 0.25 mg islatravir.
Pediatric Dose:
Idvynso is not approved for children.
Dosing Info: This is a complete one-pill, once-daily drug regimen. It can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects
The most common side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal bloating and headache.
Drug Interactions
Idvynso should not be used with drugs that are strong inducers of the cytochrome P450 (CYP)3A enzyme. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. Neither of the drugs in Idvynso are active against hepatitis B. In addition, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, if you are breast feeding and all your medical conditions, including all prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements you are taking.
