I will look for this film for sure BUT I am surprised there is no mention of the film Longtime Companion...while I might understand it was a theatrical flick it was very well made and had a well known cast it also scored an Academy Award for Bruce Davison as well
I thought it was Longtime Companion. Beautiful film to watch while I was still in high school.
Longtime Companion (1989) Bruce Davidson was nominated for an Oscar for best actor in a supporting role. Try finding it anywhere to view again.
What about the Ryan White story that was all about how he got aids through a blood transfusion and then got rudiculed and ostresized and that was a true story
The last Lawyer's office that Tom Hanks went to had a sign that read, Shilts Law Office. This was a tribute to Randy Shilts whose brother Gary is a lawyer.
This film changed my life when it was first shown. It brought me out of my shell and into the light of HIV activism. Although it is fairy littered with stereotypes, I think it can give younger generations an idea of what life was like in the 1980s for gay men. This was a time I will never forget and a film I will never forget. I need to dust off my DVD copy and watch it again. With plenty of tissues.
The past that never goes away. It seems that the page isn't ever going to change. What should have been nostalgic is so today. Only the outside is different. The medical industry seems to have been the only real gain. The reality of then is still that of today.
