Bin Laden may be gone but terrorism takes on greater challenges now. That will be the response of a government which has 50% of its budget invested in its military machine. And let's not ever think that the drug companies are interested in a cure. Keeping us alive but sick is the best way they know of maximizing their profits from HIV/AIDS. Sounds cynical doesn't it? Well that's the way corporate Amerika works, as far as I can make out. I don't like to be a bearer of bad news but I do believe I'm correct on these points.
Ms. Hofman: maybe we are under the same constellations? LOL.....I thought the same exact thing when I heard the news!!!! Don't get me wrong, i thought this was great news (the news of the past year has often been sad, hasn't it??) But your interview with Larry Kramer (and thanks for posting it) made it so clear that we need to take our fight seriously again. I was so touched by your interview. We must fight for hiv to end.
A VERY interesting concept......Thank you, Regan
Beautiful, thought-provoking post, Regan. I'm proud to be your friend.
It is highly unlikely that HIV/AIDS would ever be designated as “Public Enemy #1”. There is far too much profit; and in turn political contributions made by the pharmaceutical companies, laboratories, and other related for-profit industries who provide care and treatment to the vast majority of these 1.1 million Americans living with HIV/AIDS. And let us not forget the 50,000 new cases of HIV that continue to be added to this growing population of Americans infected with HIV. America’s Public Health system, and the awareness of Americans uninfected by HIV have failed since 1987, nearly 25 years of a 30 year presence, of a preventing a preventable viral condition. America continues to add 50,000 new cases of HIV to our overall population. HIV/AIDS is an entire industry, HIV/AIDS is profitable. Naming HIV/AIDS as “Public Enemy #1” would be like slaying the goose that laid the golden egg.
A VERY interesting concept......Thank you, Regan
Fasinating idea and I wonder if we lived in the times that Hitler was alive and wittness his death if you would celebrate, and your people and most of your staff would recieve justice. It is different on how one is effected in this war on terror and truly I believe for those effected it is different and for those who food and well being comes from the spoils of AIDS is different too. Fear not my faith tells me for a life of eternity is in my plan and faith, so again fear not. However AIDS and a Cure is a fight that we must push foward also as in Cancer,Heart Dieses, etc and many other infirmaties. A Cure for AIDS will not take away the pains and night mares of 911 or the millions of death from a man made word called AIDS. I am happy that many are following in the push for a Cure for AIDS and I wonder what a Cure for AIDS means to POZ.INC. Now that you folks are on board in this battle plan what Does a Cure for AIDS mean to you? I for one will fight with all my breath for a Cure and keep searching for the truth. But if one thinks a cure is going to happen because one man called the President makes it his number one enemy needs than one might think again for we need to unite with a man that has more power than Obama. May God Bless You in your calling and my hopes are that many will find thier Cure today from terror. My God forgive Bin Laden for his evil sins and heal the hearts of the ones effected.
