I can assure you the stigma hasn’t decreased. Our organization has been on this journey for years, trying to get that message out and to enlighten and empower young people who still believe stereotypes and stigmas surrounding HIV. Hopefully, seeing posts like this, people will open the eyes, but mainly their hearts to be more aware and supportive of the HIV journey and those who are living the journey.

The stigma was beyond imaginable back in 1980 and its horrible now still. When i was diagnosed I literally lost everything. At that time a white, young, non drug user, straight girl was not heard of. Basically i lost everything..my education, my job, and every friend i had i lost. Today, my friend thats like a brother to me....i let his wife know when i was teaching her crochet. She has issues also so i didnt feel threatened. Well she hates me now and wants nothing to do with me.

The STIGMA is gone HA HA HA! Is this the part in the "Wizard of Oz" where everything is in Technicolor? I've seen used sanitary napkins given more respect than my HIV+ body. WAKE THE F@#K UP WE ARE FREAKS EVEN TO OUR OWN GAY KIND. GLAAD really needs some serious guidance on this and many other issues, from what I understand it has been a revolving door of characters for a while. So sad :(
