Not a terribly helpful study. We should give up treatment for non-HIV related diseases to reduce our risk of hospitalization and dying? Without specifying WHAT medications were prevalent in those with increased risk, or at what doses, this tells us nothing. Surely, those taking Zantac for acid reflux or a medication for toe nail fungus are not at the same level of risk as those taking high doses of meds for heart regulation, high cholesterol, or hypertension. Fear-mongering.

HIV Since 1995

I've read a few articles that made no sense in my day, but this one might take the cake. So, if an HIV person takes medication for diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, then they are more likely to die from one of those conditions? I'm not a doctor, but wouldn't NOT TAKING those medications exacerbate the problem? The fact that people with HIV who've been prescribed medications for other conditions die more kinda is a foregone conclusion, right?

Mikey

So people who are sicker are more likely to die? Seems plausible.
