Not only is this writing trenchant, it conjures images that are distressingly familiar to me. Thank you for that. I also agree that science and medicine haven't addressed the issues of meth addiction nearly enough (although David Fawcett's "Lust, Men, and Meth" at least lays out the physiology and mental challenges of meth addiction quite well). Although I understand that 12-step rooms can feel antiquated when it comes to addictions like this one, I have found comfort and support there.

That was a well written, thoughtful, and kind of sad piece of journalism…coming from Gen X myself and a long term survivor and having battled substances both liquid and powder this one hit home.
