I've arrived at the nursing home last week on hospice care after 38 years of HIV. Numbers are plummeting and soon I will be able to name them. I thought I was alone in this except for my sisters. Then I read your article and found that I am not the only one who feels the way I do. Exactly as I do and did. the years of meds finally stopped working and now I am almost relieved. Thank you for your story. You helped someone. I may have to continue the story of what the end is like.

What an admirable read of your experiences. They are eerily close to mine. Although I had been very involved in HIV education and support since 1985, I got 'hit' in 1998. My words to the phlebotomist after being advised I was HIV positive, and recovery from the shock, was "I am going to be the 'poster boy' for LIVING WELL, with this virus!" So far I have done so, specifically Healthwise. Viral Load has been nil since the 3rd month after my diagnosis, my diabetes (OI) is well.
