In 1993, my uncle broke the news that he was HIV+ and living in London at the time. I remember thinking that I would soon loose him. But things changed. He moved back to his home country and passed away last month at the age of 80 years with an undetectable viral load. I am no where near SF but if, or when, I will be in the neighborhood, I'll make sure to visit this as I find it to be a great way to honor those that have survived this. I know through my uncle that it's not an easy road.
