Camp Heartland, a Longtime Retreat for Youth With HIV, Is Closing

Having volunteered as a camp nurse there a few summer sessions in the 90’s during the height of the HIV/AIDS crises, I feel the same bittersweet emotions Neil speaks of. Camp Heartland was truly a place of acceptance and love for children who often didn’t feel loved and accepted by the rest of the world. A piece of my heart will always remain there.
